UNSTABLE TABLES
This is a fun, laid-back group out of Lincoln, IL. They have a kind of folk rock feel that includes upright bass, acoustic guitars, beautiful harmonies, and a sax player (because why not). This group will entertain with their collection of original works and their uncanny ability to play most requests thrown their way. Whether you are looking for a group that can put on a show, a concert, or a bar band, this group is sure to delight.
Deuxieme
This little group can fit into nearly any venue and liven up the place. It's rare to come across someone who doesn't enjoy gypsy jazz. It is the perfect music (ok, we may be a bit biased). It is perfectly simple and happy, with the just the right amount of expression to be great background music to the everyday listener. At the same time, it is infinitely complex the closer and deeper you listen. Whether you want to liven up an event with background music or are looking for a group to put on a good show, this little group will leave you happy and whistling a tune on your way home.
Prairieland Dixie Band
This group has brought the sounds of Bourbon Street to Central Illinois for over 20 years. They feature 4 horn players, including trombone, bari sax, clarinet, trumpet, bass trumpet, and superbone. They stick with the traditional sounds of tuba, banjo, and drum set in their rhythm section to bring their audiences the traditional New Orleans sound. Their style is a mix of Brass bands, such as the Rebirth Brass Band, and more traditional early jazz, such as Sidney Bechet and Kid Ory.
Illinois Central Jazz Train
The Jazz Train was started by Larry Harms in 2005 and continues to this day to create some of the most interesting Big Band jazz in Central IL. The Jazz Train is the artist in Residence group at IL Central College and the members include a diverse range of musicians from the entire central IL area. Every performance is filled with both jazz standards from the likes of Sammy Nestico, Louis Bellson, and Duke Ellington, and contemporary works such as those by Gordon Goodwin, Frank Mantooth, and our very own Tom Fatten. Still under the direction of Larry Harms, the band maintains a strong foothold in the traditions of jazz while continuing to perform works that push big band jazz to new levels
